WHO WE ARE
We, Mayan women and men, belonging to the Tsotsil and Tseltal peoples of the region of Los Altos de Chiapas, are part of the Pop; petate, mat, interweaving of threads, fibers, people and municipal looms that symbolize the people and come from an ancestral lineage. As heads of lineages, we weave ourselves as promoters of the "Lekil Kuxlejal Jlumaltik" or Good Life in Our Territories, recognizing and valuing our diversity.
The recognition of differences is an attitude that leads us to maintain a constant openness, allowing us to learn through interaction with other older siblings by receiving and giving advice.
WHERE DO WE COME FROM?
Archaeologically and historically, our peoples have lived together despite linguistic and territorial differences, this has been possible due to the establishment of common fields that allowed cultural unity, such as religion, trade or the form of social organization. Aware of this, we recognize that we come from weaving diversity with the needle of the common, knowing that these are the elements that make us move towards the fulfillment of equality as a right that recognizes being different.
WHERE ARE WE?
We are located in the southeast of the Mexican Republic, specifically in the region of Los Altos de Chiapas, covering the municipalities of Chalchihuitán, Mitontic, Santiago El Pinar, San Juan Cancuc, Sitalá and Tenejapa.
